From Three Years to Life

dennis.peng | January 16, 2008 @ 6:33pm

At ooma, we always regarded the three-year service clause in our Terms & Conditions as a simple principle in action: a general projection of how long an electronic device was expected to last (much like the iPhone® or Tivo®). Our community and consumers, however, have expressed a number of questions and concerns about the three-year service clause. In an effort to be responsive, we have modified our Terms & Conditions to offer unlimited calling to any number in the U.S. without charge for the “life of the ooma Hub device” – and, if you’re anything like me, that could be a very long time (hey, I’m still playing Halo® on my original Xbox®).

Hey, is this the life of the product or the life of the ooma company? by all means if that company goes down in three years what difference does it make? after Sunrocket, I believe you need much better explaination for the more savvy consumer before they will plounge again for a device like this. To be honest, this actually sounded more scary then sunrocket, because sunrocket only offered buy 1 year and get 1 year free, but your service is actually free for life, which make a lot of people wonder, whoes life you are talking about. *grin*

We are happy to announce that we just launched our Tell-a-Friend
program. This is our first step toward developing a full-fledged referral program. Right now, we can only offering our sincere gratitude when you tell a friend about ooma. But in the future, we will be exploring creative ways to show our appreciation for your loyalty. Thank you for your wonderful suggestion.

That’s certainly a valid concern. We know that $399 is a big investment, but please know that you are investing in a company that is backed by some of the biggest, most successful venture capitalists in the world. You’re also investing in a company driven by technological innovation and a zealous regard for product excellence and customer satisfaction. We’re a Silicon Valley company out to change the game - not another telecom upstart out to deliver copycat services.

If I bought this device, would the 911 feature work similar to vonage? I am not looking to carry a land line, and we have E911 in my area.

Hi Pete — Yes, if you have E911 service in your area, ooma will definitely support it.
