When people find out about ooma, one of the first questions they ask is: “Can I keep my existing home phone number?” Absolutely! We handle all the number transfer details with your phone carrier and make it work for you seamlessly. But up until now, the cost to port your old number to ooma was $79 because of the time-consuming process of working with the carriers to get the number porting done. We’ve received a lot of feedback from potential customers who felt the price was a little steep. And we agree.
So here’s what we’ve decided to do. We’ve lowered the cost of porting to $39.99 or free if you sign up for an annual subscription to ooma Premier. Customers who previously purchased a number port for $79 will be provided with a full year of ooma Premier service at no extra charge.
ooma Premier is our premium service — sort of ooma on steroids. You’ll get advanced calling features like the Instant Second Line, Message Screening, multiple phone numbers, Send-to-Voicemail, voicemail forwarding and more! A great value at $99.99 per year is made even better with the addition of complimentary number porting. You can test-drive ooma Premier for free, for 60 days, when you buy an ooma system. Now, go ahead and take it for a whirl!
I just signed up recently and paid the $79 porting fee, and I was surprised to see such a generous gesture from Ooma! Even though I have a glitch taht I have been meaning to call Ooma about regarding my second phone, I am confident it will be handled in a friendly and professional way, as my initial installation was… Ooma is a first class operation in my opinion, and I am delighted to still hear a dial tone and to have nice clear phone calls after having cancelled my local monopoly phone service!
You guys are fabulous. If this were any other phone company, the early customers would never hear of the policy change — and if somehow they did and sought to be included in the deal, they’d be brushed off by helpless customer-service agencies trained to apologize disingenuously while chanting the mantra “That’s not our policy.”
I’ve been an Ooma customer for several months now and have been summarily impressed by everything about the company. The kids fiind the harmonic dial tone a little weird, but I thinki it’s a gas. I bought the Ooma device with no intention of signing on for the Premiere service — but during our trial period I’ve started to think I must have been crazy. Who wouldn’t pay $99 a year for a second phone line — and all the other amenities the service confers?
I must say, I can’t quite figure out how you folks are making money, but I absolutely love your service. ooma forever!
Wow. I was little unhappy with normal than higher fee for number porting. But, OOMA once again proved that it cares about customers by not only reducing the price, but also by taking care of already paid customers. OOMA voice quality and services are is amazing, so are its business standards.
ooma is making their product more attractive everyday. Next they need to add a continuous warranty to the premier service. The price may have to go up a little, but I think most would go for it if they could have that “worry-free” phone service.
I just want to say that I very pleased with the phone system. I talk my sister into getting a phone system and she is very happy too.
I just want to say to any one who’s thinking about getting this ooma phone system. I have had 4 other voip systems with other companies and none holds up this ooma. If you have a problem you can bet they will fix it in a timely manner. I’ve had trouble with others, never got it fixed at all. One I had tried to charge me 100.00 more the second year. I call ooma and they get right on it and fix it. that’s service I like. Thanks ooma. I’m sure you will grow in years to come. when people see this service they will stay with you.
