Spotlight Employee: Simon Capper
Embedded Software Manager

Check out our own Simon Capper in this Skydiving video spoof of the show “Venture Bros.”

After spending too many years in the telecom industry, I finally found myself at ooma. After hearing about the company vision, it took me all of 3.62 seconds to join. That was two years ago. Many crazy late-night sessions of fast-and-furious-coding filled with Red-Bull-and-pizza later, we ended up with the ooma Hub™… at once challenging, demanding and fun to build!

Reading the glowing feedback on customer surveys and positive reviews on Amazon.com gives me a great deal of satisfaction about what we’ve accomplished. We have a remarkably well-rounded team at ooma, and I look forward to developing new features in the months ahead.

I believe I still have a life, let me check, yes, it’s still there. In my “spare time,” I enjoy a family with two young boys. And, when I’m really good, I get to go skydiving. I think I’ve fallen about 5,000 miles from airplanes since the tick of the millennium, and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it!

ooma in Good Company at the 2007 Crunchies

VBob | January 24, 2008 @ 5:50pm

the_crunchies.jpg

For those of us who work in Silicon Valley, Silicon Alley, or the high-tech universe in between, the 2007 Crunchies was a big event. Co-hosted by GigaOm, VentureBeat, Read/WriteWeb, and TechCrunch, this was “the first annual competition and award ceremony to recognize and celebrate the most compelling start-ups, internet and technology innovations of the year.” We, at ooma, were totally thrilled to be one of the five finalists selected for the category of “Best New Gadget/Device.” […]

John Wang, our spiky-haired IT savant, recently built shelves in his home to accommodate his ooma system. His pet rabbit–Babs–was literally climbing walls to make free long-distance calls.

From Three Years to Life

dennis.peng | January 16, 2008 @ 6:33pm

At ooma, we always regarded the three-year service clause in our Terms & Conditions as a simple principle in action: a general projection of how long an electronic device was expected to last (much like the iPhone® or Tivo®). Our community and consumers, however, have expressed a number of questions and […]
