For those of us who work in Silicon Valley, Silicon Alley, or the high-tech universe in between, the 2007 Crunchies was a big event. Co-hosted by GigaOm, VentureBeat, Read/WriteWeb, and TechCrunch, this was “the first annual competition and award ceremony to recognize and celebrate the most compelling start-ups, internet and technology innovations of the year.” We, at ooma, were totally thrilled to be one of the five finalists selected for the category of “Best New Gadget/Device.” […]

In late September, a group of us headed out east to the Javits Center in New York City to attend the annual Digital Life Conference. Not only did we give away a LOT of ooma T-shirts, but we raffled off eight ooma systems to lucky dialtone owners. We also sponsored a “call your mom for free” event at our booth so everyone was a winner. Which reminds us, the ooma Hub device took home the 2007 Digital Life Hardware Innovator Award!
